The process, the fees, and the awkward questions
Including the one everybody wants to ask and mostly doesn't: do I pay you?
What actually happens after you get in touch?
-
Consultation
A free call — phone or video, twenty minutes or so. Where you're thinking, who's coming, roughly when, and roughly what you want to spend. Mostly I'm listening for how you like to travel, because that determines more than the destination does. No obligation, and nothing gets booked on this call.
-
Proposal
Within a few days you get two or three real options — specific ships and cabin categories, specific resorts and room tiers, specific tour departures. Each with what's included, what it costs all-in, and why I chose it. If none of them land, we adjust and I send another round.
-
Booking
You pick one. I handle the reservation, the deposit, the payment schedule, and the perks — the Signature amenities, the celebration requests, the seat and dining assignments. You get a written itinerary and a payment calendar so nothing sneaks up on you.
-
Before you go
I reconfirm everything as you get close, and chase anything that hasn't landed. Then I send documents with the details that matter: transfer times, what's included, what to book ahead. This is where the honeymoon upgrades and the dining reservations get secured.
-
While you travel
You are not on your own out there. A cancelled flight, a transfer that never shows, a room that isn't what we booked — that is mine to sort out, not yours. Most trips never need any of it. It is there so the ones that do are still good trips.

The things everyone wants to ask
Do I pay you to plan my trip?
For most cruise, all-inclusive, and small group tour bookings, no. I'm paid a commission by the cruise line, resort, or tour operator after you travel, and it comes out of their margin rather than being added to your price.
If a trip is complex enough to need a planning fee, I tell you the amount before you commit to anything. You will never find a fee on an invoice you didn't agree to first.
Will I pay more than booking online myself?
No. I book the same published rates. Through Signature Travel Network I can often add amenities on top — resort credits, upgrades where available, onboard credit on many sailings. You're not paying a markup for the service.
How far ahead should I book?
Cruises: six to twelve months for the best cabin choice, further out for holiday sailings and Alaska. All-inclusive resorts: three to six months. Small group tours sell out earliest — a year ahead isn't unusual for popular departures.
What support do I get while I'm traveling?
You have my number. If a flight cancels, a transfer doesn't show, or a room is wrong, you call me rather than standing in line at a service desk. That's the part of this job a booking website can't do.
What about travel insurance?
I'll raise it every time, and I'd encourage it on anything with a meaningful deposit — particularly Caribbean travel in hurricane season and small group tours with strict cancellation terms. It's your call, and I'll make sure you're making it with the actual cancellation policy in front of you.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Bora Bora Bound, LLC is registered as a Seller of Travel in California (CST #2063964-50), Florida (ST17873), and Washington (602232785). I'm a member of ASTA and CLIA, part of Signature Travel Network, and an NGLCC-certified LGBT Business Enterprise. Full terms are on the Terms & Conditions page.
Still have a question?
Just ask. I'd much rather answer three questions now than leave you wondering.
